your energy,
sorted. the same
way your wi-fi is.

energy is the other bill that turns up every month and the one nobody gets round to. take fifteen minutes now and it's done. it comes with an earth wi-fi plan, so if you’re not with us yet, start with your postcode and we’ll sort both in one go.

the honest bit

we don't supply energy. british gas does.

we're not an energy company and we won't pretend to be. british gas supply your gas and electricity, they bill you, and they look after you from the day you switch.

what we do is the part people put off. we go through what you're paying now, show you what british gas can do instead, and get the switch moving. then they take it from there, and you deal with them directly.

a quick note on the words you’ll see on tariffs, because they get used loosely.

what is green energy

green energy is electricity generated from sources that replenish themselves. wind, sun, water, and in some cases biomass. it produces far less carbon per unit than coal or gas.

you'll also see "renewable" and "clean" used nearby. renewable describes where the energy comes from. clean describes how little pollution it creates on the way.

a green tariff means your supplier matches the electricity you use with an equivalent amount generated from renewable sources and backed by certificates.

why
british gas

a house on a green hill under a leaf-and-lightning mark

they're the uk's largest gas supplier and the second largest for electricity, part of centrica, and they've been doing this longer than anyone.

they publish their fuel mix, so you can see where the electricity you're paying for actually comes from rather than taking a logo's word for it.

and they do more than supply. smart meters, tariffs built for people who drive electric, solar and heat pumps if you're thinking further ahead.

why do it through us

switching energy isn't hard. it's just a job that sits on the list for a year.

doing it here means one conversation instead of two, on a day you're already sorting the house out. someone goes through your actual usage rather than pointing you at a comparison table.

that's the whole pitch. no lock in with us, no effect on your wi-fi either way.

how switching works

step 1
check what you're on.

dig out a recent bill or a meter reading if you have one to hand. if you don't, we can still get you started.

step 2
pick a tariff.

either browse them yourself or book a callback and we'll go through your usage with you.

step 3
british gas take it from here.

they contact your current supplier, agree a switch date and confirm it with you. you don't need to cancel anything yourself.

step 4
nothing goes off.

your electricity and gas don't stop, your internet isn't touched, and your meter stays where it is.

prefer to talk to someone

book a fifteen minute callback. one of our team goes through what you're currently paying, what you actually use, and which tariff fits. no obligation at the end of it and no pressure if the answer is that you're better off staying put.

questions people ask

can i get energy from earth on its own?

energy is available alongside an earth internet plan. if you're not with us yet, start with a postcode check and we'll sort both together.

will my electricity be cut off during the switch?

no. supply is continuous. the only thing that changes is who bills you.

does my meter need replacing?

not to switch. british gas may offer a smart meter separately if you don't already have one, and that's your call.

how long does it take?

usually around three weeks from confirming, including the fourteen day cooling off period.

what happens to my exit fees?

if you're inside a fixed term with your current supplier, check whether exit fees apply before you switch. we'll flag it on the callback.

who actually supplies my energy?

british gas. we introduce you and help you get set up, then they're your supplier.

who do i call if there's a problem with my energy?

british gas. our team look after your wi-fi, they look after your energy.

do you get paid for this?

yes. british gas pay us a commission for every customer who signs up. it doesn't change what you pay.
